Eads tells group about Cam-Tel's services

— Stacy Eads, the general manager of Cam-Tel Company, visited the Rotary Club on Tuesday to speak about the advancements that the company has made since the company’s start.

Eads has worked at Cam-Tel for 23 years, so she has seen many of the advancements herself. She stated that when started working there, the company did not have computers, everything was done by hand with pen and paper.

She distributed channel-list cards to Rotary members to demonstrate how the number of channels has grown over the years. The first card listed 12 channels; the next card - which was from 1999 - listed 52 channels; and the current card was a sheet of paper with more than 250 channels.

She said that while the company was originally a cable company, she is proud of its growth that involves both telephone and Internet services. The telephone service - called Cablelynx Home Phone - is a service that can be customized to fit the customer’s needs. Options include local calls, voice-mail, long distance, and more.

Cablelynx Broadband Internet has several options available to customers as well. There are residential, enhanced, and turbo services, each service faster than the one before. Depending on a customer’s needs from streaming, gaming, or downloading, Eads says there is a service to fit. She said that she had an employee with a large family all log onto the service and use the Internet on several devices and they never had an issue with speed.

Eads said that Cam-Tel also offers special services for businesses, both phone and Internet. Business phone services have up to 24 lines and the broadband Internet has speeds up to 100 Megabits per second. There are also additional features for businesses, such as a static IP, call forwarding, and more.
