Grand slam dooms Cards

— Bauxite had to make the most out of an early opportunity to hold off the Camden Fairview Cardinals on Monday, and a first inning grand slam sank the Cardinals, 8-5.

C.F. scored a run in the top of the first but Bauxite homered with the bases loaded to take a 4-1 lead. C.F. closed the gap to one in the top of the fourth. However, Bauxite responded with four runs over the next three innings. The Cardinals scored two innings in the seventh inning before picking up its third out to end the game.

Niles Smith went 2/3 with a run and freshman Riley Klober went 1/3 with an RBI. Jameson Milner and Cody Chellete both went 1/3 with RBI each and Chellete added a run along with Mark Smith. Tim Crumpler had one hit, a run and an RBI.

John Dawson led the team with five putouts in the outfield and Crumpler pitched the first 5.6 innings of the game.
