The final two teams are no surprise, but they're still worth watching

— Alas, the NBA finals are upon us.

Any surprises yet?

Silence

Yeah. Didn't think so.

So maybe we all knew that the finals would consist of a rematch between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors for the third consecutive year.

Who would've thought that two teams with probable seven of the top 10 players in the league split between them would advance to the finals?

I understand most fans would've predicted this last summer when Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors.

That move eliminated my favorite NBA team, the Seattle Supersonics.... I mean, the Oklahoma City Thunder - from capturing a title in the near future. The Cavs answered by signing two more shooters in Channing Frye and Kyle Korver - damaging the Atlanta Hawks, and a veteran point guard in Deron Williams.

A lot of fans would say that this move put a damper on the NBA season, but I disagree. The season that Russell Westbrook gave us was flawed, but amazing. The league realized the greatness of Kawhi Leonard as the San Antonio Spurs appeared not to miss a beat after the retirement of future Hall of Famer Tim Duncan. The Houston Rockets had moments where it looked as if it could contend for a title, and the Washington Wizards ran out of gas against an inspired Boston Celtics team.

Speaking of the Celtics, them winning one game in this series was quite a surprise to most, especially after losing by 40 points in Game 2.

With that said, the distance between the two top teams and everyone else in the leagues is obvious, but that still provided us with a lot of good moments.

Even though the Warriors and the Cavs look like two all-star teams, one can't help but wonder how could this final's matchup be boring.

I really don't think it can.

If the Cavs win - which I doubt - Lebron James fans will have more ammo in their argument for James being better than Jordan. If the Warriors win, Durant gets his first win and the word "dynasty" will start being thrown around in the Bay Area. But I'm more interested in the things that are less obvious.

If the Warriors sweep, then technically Mike Brown - James' first NBA coach - will have won more rings in Cleveland than James. (James won in Oakland last year, and a sweep would mean that game four of the finals will be played in Cleveland).

Because fans are extreme, I feel that James is one losing-series away before people start saying he should consider retiring. I can't wait for all of the memes on social media regardless of what happens in the finals. And we also have the first ever NBA Award show to look forward too.

In closing: Yes, the finals was predictable. But what happens there is still up in the air.
