Jon Harrell is named the vice chair of the ABA

— LITTLE ROCK — Camden native Jonathan (Jon) Harrell was installed as the 2018-19 vice chairman of the Arkansas Bankers Association at the 128th Annual ABA Convention on Tuesday, April 3, at the Robinson Center in Little Rock, according to a news release.

He is the son of the late Searcy Harrell of Camden.

Jon Harrell is the chairman of Generations Bank in Rogers, and president and CEO of Harrell Bancshares, Inc. He is the fifth generation Harrell to lead the management team of Generations Bank, leading the bank into the Northwest Arkansas market and growing its total assets in excess of 78 percent since the release states.

His banking career began with the Arkansas State Bank Department in 1988, where he developed many of the relationships that have been essential to his career. He is a graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at LSU, and previously served a three-year term on the ABA board of directors.

Harrell currently serves on the Rogers Area Chamber of Commerce as Board Member and Chairman of the Audit Committee. He is also a cabinet member of the St. Mary’s Heritage Society.

Other officers installed include Chairman Cathy Owen of Eagle Bank in Little Rock; Chairman-Elect Robert Robinson IV of Simmons Bank in El Dorado; and Treasurer Jim Cargill of Arvest Bank in Little Rock.

The release states that the Arkansas Bankers Association was established in 1891. It is the state’s largest and oldest banking industry organization and represents banks, bank holding companies, and savings & loans in Arkansas.

The ABA provides a variety of member services, including educational programs, products and services, publications and a comprehensive government relations program.
