— Woman shot by LR police is identified and arrested

LITTLE ROCK - Authorities have identified the 20-year-old woman shot and wounded by Little Rock police at an apartment complex early Friday, according to Arkansas Online.

Lexi Shockey was arrested Friday on one count of aggravated assault, according to an arrest report.

The shooting occurred at the Tanglewood Apartments at 7575 Cantrell Road after authorities were called to the location after midnight Thursday, police spokesman officer Steve Moore said Friday at the scene. He did not identify the shooting victim Friday.

Roommates had called 911 about one of their other roommates “acting strangely,” according to Moore. He said roommates had barricaded themselves in a room within the apartment.

Police went to the apartment and spoke with the woman through the door for a few minutes before they were able to get her to let them enter, Moore said Friday.

The arrests report states that Shockey picked up a knife during the incident and swung it at officers, who fired a shot that hit her in the shoulder area.

Shockey was listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Monday afternoon.

Trial delayed until 2019 for man accused of deaths

POLK COUNTY - The trial of a west Arkansas man accused of killing a woman along with her two children and uncle last year has been delayed until March 2019.

The Polk County prosecuting attorney said Monday that the defense needed more time to prepare for the trial of Brian Bliss Travis, 38, who is being held at the Varner prison, a maximum security unit in Gould.

The bodies of Bethany Jo Wester, 43; her two children, Reilly James Scarbrough, 9, and Acelynn C. Wester, 2; and Bethany Wester’s uncle, Steven Payne, 66, were found separately from April 25 to 29, according to the Polk County sheriff’s office.

Travis told investigators he killed all four people, according to an affidavit from the Arkansas State Police.

His trial is scheduled for the weeks of March 18 and 25, 2019, according to the Polk County clerk.
