A vehicle that was possibly stolen crashed into the Guadalajara sign along Lincoln Drive and additionally destroyed a light pole early Saturday morning, according to a Camden Police Department incident report.

The report states:

“On April 24 I (Ofc. Manning) was dispatched to 942 South Adams Street in reference to a traffic accident that occurred. Upon my arrival, I observed a gold Ford Explorer to be crashed on into the Guadalajara restaurant sign. I observed the vehicle to be totaled out with both air bags deployed.

“The passengers side of the vehicle was completely crushed inward. I observed no driver to be on scene upon my arrival. I then relocated to Ouachita County Medical Center in order to verify if the driver may have been checked into the hospital for injuries. I was advised by the medical staff that no one had checked into the hospital this morning.”

The report goes on to state that a witness observed the driver of the vehicle heading northbound on Highway 7 when the driver lost control and crashed head first into the sign. The witness then said he saw a black male enter another vehicle and flee the scene.

New hire employment papers were found within the vehicle and the owner was contacted by CPD. The owner said he had not been driving the vehicle and it should have been at his house. The incident report shows that the owner stated that he would make contact with CPD and provide further details for the police report.

The report states that $5,000 dollars worth of damage took place, with the sign valued at $2,000 and the utility pole valued at $3,000.

No estimate has been given regarding the amount of damage sustained on the vehicle.
