Man dies in ATV accident

A Locust Bayou man died over the weekend after being involved in an ATV crash in Calhoun County.

According to the crash summary from the Arkansas State Police, 32-year-old Carl Jacob Crawford died Saturday morning when the ATV he was driving crashed in the area of Calhoun County Road .

The report states that Crawford was driving a Polaris Ranger and, as he made a turn from Calhoun 304 onto Calhoun 29, he appeared to have lost control on the gravel on that roadway.

As he tried to correct the ATV, the vehicle traveled around 100 yards and skidded off of the roadway and into a tree “head on,” the report states. The ATV continued to skied another 10 fee into another tree before coming to a rest, according to the report. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were reportedly clear, and the roadway was dry.
