CAMDEN — William Lester
William Carroll “Bill” Lester, 75, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at his home.
Bill was born on July 16, 1943, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to William Lester and Ruth Lester Sanderson. At age 16, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country for six years. Bill was a maintenance and boiler operator for Baptist Hospital, and he was a huge sports fan - especially the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Lester; brother, Ronnie Sanderson; granddaughter, Nicole Briscoe Daniel; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Sallie Wiggins Huett.
Bill is survived by four children, Carolyn Biscoe and husband Shane, Wanda Russell and husband, Rodney, Hazel Bynum and husband, Freddy, and Joseph Lester Connolly; four siblings, Tommy Lester, Roy Lester, Nathan Sanderson and Sandra Sanderson Cearley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; longtime companion and friend, Patricia Layton and her sons, Gary, Christopher, and Jeffrey Layton.
Cremation arrangements were by Arkansas Cremation in Little Rock.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, 1505 California Ave. in Camden.
