Lady Cards win consolation in Fordyce

What a difference a day makes.

A day of rest proved to be all the Camden Fairview Lady Cardinals needed to break a two game losing streak last week when it defeated Pine Bluff Dollarway in the third and final round of the Fordyce Bank & Trust Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Cardinals finished 2-1 in the tournament with its only loss coming against the eventual tournament champion Lakeside Rams by only three points.

The Lady Cardinals basketball team are off to its best overall start since 2014 (4-2). Last week, the Lady Cardinals played 5 games in 6 nights with two being away and the other three being neutral site games.

The Lady Cardinals defeated Arkadelphia in the FB&T tournament on Monday before defeated Centerpoint in Amity.

After losing to the undefeated Lakeside Rams on Wednesday, the Lady Cardinals dropped a close game to the 6-1 Lady Wildcats in El Dorado, 52-46 - a game that was tied at 37 in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Cardinals will finally get to host a varsity basketball game tonight when it takes on Arkadelphia, but the Cardinals boys will have to wait until Friday to play at home.

The games against Arkadelphia tonight were originally set to have CF varsity girls and boys games. However, the varsity boys games have been canceled due to the fact that Arkadelphia is preparing to play for the 4A State title in football this weekend.

Tomorrow’s varsity boys game against Prescott has also been canceled because it just wrapped up its football season on Saturday.

The Cardinal boys will host El Dorado on Friday after losing at Wildcat arena last Thursday, 90-73. Chris Strahan led the team in scoring with 24 points and Qwaishun Thompson and Jalen Moore combined for another 25 points.
