Camden-area residents can now receive care at home for a range of cardiac and vascular needs. Physicians and staff of South Arkansas Cardiovascular and Vein Center are now providing services on-site at Ouachita County Medical Center.

Dr. Sarah Brown, doctor of nursing practice and advanced practice nurse with specialties in adult geriatric acute care and family services, said the mission of the recently opened clinic and catheterization or cath lab is to “bring quality, cutting edge care to the front door” of local patients.

The clinic is in the hospital’s old intensive care unit area and the cath lab is in a mobile location on the hospital grounds while a lab is being built inside the hospital, Brown said.

Patients in need of clinic and lab services can find the expertise locally to treat their conditions, which Brown said is a boost for the local community.

“People aren’t having to drive to Little Rock to get care,” she said. “They can find the expertise right here at home.”

Cardiac care includes hypertension, right and left heart cath, intracoronary percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty/stent/atherectomy, trans esophageal echocardiogram, coronary angiography (femoral and radial).

Non-invasive treatment is available in general clinical cardiology, valvular heart disease, arrythmia, congestive heart failure and echo. Invasive and non-invasive treatment options are available for peripheral arterial disease.

Invasive options include upper and lower extremity angiograms, carotid angiograms and aortograms, peripheral atherectomy (orbital and laser), peripheral PTA and stent and thromboembolectomy.

Non-invasive procedures include PAD evaluation, ABI/PVR, carotid duplex ultrasound, arterial duplex ultrasound and CTA peripheral angiography. Electrophysiology services such as loop recorder implants, pacemaker implants and intracardiac defibrillator implants are available, along with non-invasive services in that area.

The team also will concentrate on a range of services in interventional radiology and pain and venous needs.

Physicians providing the services are Dr. Sadeem Mahmood and Dr. S. Dod Harvinder.

In addition to Camden, SACVC has locations in El Dorado, Little Rock and Pine Bluff.

The local address for services is 638 California Ave,. and the number to call for an appointment in Camden is 870-939-6366.
