The Harmony Grove Hornets and Lady Hornets are doing well in its Murphy Market Invitational tournament with both teams still in the winners bracket.

The Hornet boys team defeated Hermitage in the first round, 55-28, and the Lady Hornets defeated McGehee, 41-33.

Damion Daniel led the team with 14 points and 6 rebounds while Shaun Lucas scored 8 followed by Jayce Posey with 6. Mason McClure had 5. Logan Hutchins, TJ Nash, and Xaylon Falls added 4 each. Antwoin Edwards had 3. Dylan Garrett, Dawson Poindexter, and Jeremie Edwards had 2. Caleb Wright had 1.

“When 12 guys score that’s a big deal” said H.G. Head basketball coach Jon Pigott. “They were down in the locker room after the Bearden game. I told them it doesn’t matter how hard you fall all that matters is how high you bounce back up after you fall. They took it to heart and we finished the first quarter up 16-3 and never looked back!”

The Lady Hornets were led by Sidney Pigott with 17 points and Halley Bryant with 18 points.
