The Camden City Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at in the council chambers room of the municipal building.

The agenda includes a discussion about Ordinance No. 12-18, an ordinance requiring a permit for parades and public assembly in Camden.

Under the proposed ordinance, any parade or gathering of more than twenty persons would have to submit an application for a permit as well as a non refundable $25 fee to cover administration cost.

Section 12-18-006 of the ordinance states, “The mayor shall not deny any application for a permit on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, political viewpoint, disability or gender.”

During the meeting in May, the ordinance was voted down until language could be clarified, thus tabling the ordinance for a second time. The sole approval came from Aldermen Chris Aregood.

“I think the biggest complaint we’ve heard is that we don’t have anything on the books,” said Aregood. “I would like to get something on the books.”

The mayor also agreed that she would like to have the process expedited.

The council then voted to remove a measure in the ordinance prohibiting the use of metal or wood to carry flags.

New business on Tuesday will include:

• Ordinance No. 21-18, an ordinance rezoning property at the location of 1315 California Avenue from RS-1

(Single-Family Residence to C-4, General Commercial District.)

• Ordinance No. 22-18, an ordinance assessing a lien on property located 795 Bradley Ferry Road

• Resolution No. 23-18, a resolution authorizing the purchase of a new HVAC unit for the Public Works Department.
