Jimmie Eubanks

— Jimmie Eubanks

Early on the morning of June 16, 2018, Jimmie L. Eubanks of Stephens, went to be with his Lord. To quote a dear friend: “Heaven earned a great golfer and a better man.”

Born on Jan. 1, 1940, in Mt. Holly, Jimmie graduated from Mt. Holly School, attended Southern Arkansas University and Henderson State University. He started work with the U.S. Postal Service at Smackover and became the postmaster of McNeil and retired as postmaster at Louann in 2000. He was a trustee of Bethel Methodist Church for many years, and one of the founding members of Pine Hills Country Club in Smackover.

Jimmie was much loved by all who knew him. He was patient, teaching golf to others and performing magic tricks for grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling in their motor home, and loved spending the winters in south Florida, playing golf and swimming in the ocean. During the spring and summer, he loved to work in their garden and playing golf with friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Elsie and Lutie Talley Eubanks and John and Lee McDonald Lewis; his parents, Cleo “Preacher” and Ethel Lewis Eubanks; brothers, J.E. Eubanks, Troy Eubanks; and sister, Faye Eubanks Citty.

Jimmie leaves his loving wife of 33 years, Gloria; son, Stephen Mark Sobley of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter, Holly Madding and husband, Jody, of Forney, Texas; and granddaughters, Katie and Audrey. He is also survived by much-loved brothers and sisters-in-law; special nieces, Sonia Eubanks Barker, Shelley Eubanks Impson, and Sherry Citty Duncan; and many cousins and friends.

A special thank you to Nurse Practitioner Shawntel Price and LPN LaRita Hester-Ellis of Southern Medical Group of Magnolia, and Dr. Freeland and Dr. Lendel and the staff of Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock.

Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday Lewis Funeral Home, 420 North Jackson in Magnolia with Bro. LeRon Braswell officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Mt. Holly.

Pallbearers will be John Impson, Will Impson, John Barker, Hogan Barker, Jamie Barker, and Mike Braswell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Waters, James Tribble, Wayne Hollis, cousins and buddies at the Pine Hills Golf Club.
