Paul Bert Bennett Jr., 64, passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018.

Paul resided in Saratoga Springs, New York He was born on March 15, 1954 and grew up in Camden, Arkansas, graduated from Camden High School in 1972., received a BA from the University of Arkansas in 1976, a Ph.D. in pharmacology from the University of Arkansas School of Medicine in 1982, and continued postdoctoral studies at University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York, and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was also employed as professor of pharmacology. His career included employment at Merck Pharmaceuticals in Pennsylvania, Nuerion Pharmaceuticals in Pasadena, California, and General Electric Global Research Center in New York, as well as consultant work for the NIH (National Institute of Health) and Aviva Biosciences in San Diego, California. He was an avid cyclist, enjoyed snow skiing and trail hiking out west.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Benett Sr. and Constance Sizeland Bennett Schonz of Camden.

He is survived by his sons, Patrick Bennett and Christopher Bennett of Eugene, Oregon; two grandsons, Mykah and Otis Bennett of Eugene; a sister, Karen Bennett Stuckey (Bill) of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a niece, Laura Barrett of Searcy, Arkansas; and a nephew, Bennett Stuckey of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Theo Carter, 98, of Chidester, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, in Chidester.

She was preceded in death by her parents Governor and Mary Brown.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Ann Smith of Chidester; brothers, Jessie Brown of Hercules, California, and the Rev. Ivory Curry of Prescott; sister, Rozetta Caldwell of Pasadena, California; one grandchild ;and four great-grandchildren.

Reddick Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bethel AME in Chidester with the Rev. Bobby Box officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
