— El Dorado woman says

two attacked her family

EL DORADO - El Dorado police are investigating a report of a woman and her children being attacked by two people armed with knives Tuesday night, according to Arkansas Online.

Authorities were called to the 700 block of East Block Street in El Dorado shortly before 8 p.m. in reference to a stabbing, where a woman told police that earlier that day, a teenager had been walking her dog in the neighborhood.

The teen told the woman’s children, ages 17 and 9, to stay away from the canine, she told authorities.

The woman said she confronted the dog walker, asking why she would knowingly walk a “dangerous dog down the street,” a police report states.

The teen replied with a threat, saying she would return with her own mother, the woman told authorities.

The teen and her mother went to the house about four hours later, both wielding butcher knives, according to the report.

The woman said the teen’s mother pointed her finger “extremely close to her face and forehead” and that she then hit the other woman.

The complainant said the two attempted to cut her and her children, the teen chasing her 9-year-old son with a knife, and she fought them off. The pair left in a red vehicle.

Police said the complainant had a small cut on her right hand, that her 17-year-old daughter had a small laceration on her right hand, and that her son sustained a small scrape on his left hand.

The complainant’s daughter told police that the adult suspect was deaf.

Two decomposed bodies found in vehicle in Ark.

LESLIE - Authorities are investigating whether decomposed bodies found in an apparent crash in Arkansas this week may belong to two people who have been missing for over a month, a police spokesman said.

The two bodies were discovered in a vehicle off the road along U.S. 65 near the city of Leslie, Sadler said. The vehicle was near a tree line that sometimes bears thick foliage, he reported.

Sadler said the crash was found “because of the sharp eye of a trooper who just happened to look at the right time at the right place.”

He stated that the trooper went back and searched for the vehicle.

“He just saw something that didn’t look right, he turned around and went back,” said Sadler.

Sadler also stated that information on the case was forwarded to investigators in Warrensburg, Missouri, who he said suspect the bodies may be two people reported missing there.

Sadler stressed that no determination on the identity of the remains had yet been made, and that the investigation is ongoing.

A message left with the Warrensburg Police Department wasn’t immediately returned on Wednesday.

The bodies were sent to the state Crime Laboratory to determine the manner and cause of death.

Man gets 25 years after pleading guilty to a rape

HOT SPRINGS - A Hot Springs man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty in Garland County Circuit Court to rape and sexual indecency charges involving juvenile victims, reports Arkansas ONline.

Laquaveon Germain Haywood, 20, who has remained in custody since his first arrest Sept. 27, 2017, pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and was sentenced to 25 years in prison on each count.

He also pleaded guilty to two felony counts of sexual indecency with a child and was sentenced to six years on each count.

All the terms will run concurrently.

One victim was 12 when she and Haywood, then 19, began having sex in the summer of 2017, authorities said. In an interview with a detective, Haywood admitted to having sex with the juvenile, but denied knowing her age at the time.

The sexual indecency charges involved a 14-year-old girl Haywood had sex with multiple times between July and August 2017, authorities said.

An additional felony charge of failure to register as a sex offender and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor were withdrawn as part of the plea deal.

A permanent court order barring Haywood from any future contact with either of the victims was also issued.

Deputy Prosecutor Kara Petro said Tuesday the plea deal was approved by the guardians of both victims to avoid either victim having to testify at trial.
