CN announces Players of the Week finale

The Camden News has announced its last Players of the Week for the 2018 football season. Players of the Week is only announced during the regular season. Congratulations to all three Ouachita County teams for advancing to the playoffs.

The “Players of the Week” feature is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

Camden Fairview’s Demetrius Moore was a standout on both sides of the ball against the 2017 5A State Champion runner up Little Rock McClellan Crimson Lions last Friday.

“DX” Moore had nine tackles on defense before he was put in at half back late in the second half. Moore rushed for 53 yards on seven carries.

Bearden senior Garrett McWhorter had a three touchdown reception performance against Strong on senior night last Friday to help his team run away with a 52-8 victory.

Bearden sophomore Kendrick Juniel returned a critical punt for a touchdown and also had a rushing touchdown. He finished the game with 11 yards in total offense.

Harmony Grove’s Damion Daniel reeled in three touchdown receptions against Smackover on the road last week. He was the go-to-guy in the endzone.

Bearden’s Cohen Word tossed three touchdown passes in Bearden’s 52-8 win over Strong. Word plays on defense as well.

Harmony Grove’s Gannon Bearden threw three touchdown passes against a tough Smackover defense.

Kentrell Hill set up HG’s first touchdown with a big 41 yard run after he was put in as a wildcat quarterback. Hill also made several first downs during the game.

Camden Fairview’s Deshaire Ford Burton turned an outlet pass into a 49 yard touchdown for the Cardinals against LRM.
