Ida B. Hollingsworth Andres of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Nov. 7, 2018, at the age of 99.

She was born on January 12, 1919, in Hampton, Arkansas, to Edwin A. and Claude Parker Hollingsworth. She was the oldest of four children.

She graduated from Hampton High School and attended Southern Arkansas University. During WWII, she worked in the general accounting office for the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C.. While in Washington D.C., she met Charles Andres, who was from Hope, Arkansas. They later married in Tacoma, Washington, on March 12, 1943. Charles and Ida returned to Arkansas and made their home in the Camden area. They lived there for many years where they raised their two children.

She retired from Brunswick Defense and moved to Hot Springs in 1990 to be near her son. While living in Hot Springs, she became a charter member of the Crazy Quilters EHC of Hot Springs. Many of her friends and family have beautiful handmade quilts made by Ida.

She was a member of Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and a member of the Victory Sunday School class. She volunteered for over 20 years at United Methodist Outreach, which she dearly enjoyed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her parents; and two brothers, Robert Hollingsworth and James Hollingsworth.

She is survived by a daughter, Charlsey, and son-in-law, Richard McNeese, of Euless, Texas; son, Mike, and daughter-in-law, Melinda Andres of Hot Springs; sister, Wanda Ivy of Santa Fe, Texas; sister-in-law, Rose Hollingsworth of Hot Springs; four grandchildren, Richard McNeese Jr. (Leslie), Stephanie McNeese Lopez (Toby), John McNeese (Kandyce) - all of Dallas, Texas, and Ashleigh Andres of Hot Springs; five great-grandchildren, Mary Hannah and Nate McNeese, Ashton and Alexa Lopez, and Chole McNeese - all of Dallas; and by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Pine Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Kindred Hospice for the excellent care given to Ida. Also, a special ‘thank you’ goes to those who were with Ida and family on her last day. “Your kindness and love toward all of us was a true blessing.”

Proctor Funeral Home of Camden is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the funeral home chapel in Camden, Arkansas. Interment will be at Bethesda Cemetery.
