The Harmony Grove Hornets made a huge statement in its 62-36 win over Barton last week. Now, Coach Ernie Horstkamp and his squad will get to take on the Glen Rose Beavers tonight at 7 p.m.

The 3A-4 champion Beavers are 9-1 on the season, and undefeated in conference play. Mark Kehmer serves as the head coach. Despite a shift in conference, the Beavers captured their second consecutive conference title after winning the 3A-5 last year. The Beavers are young but impressive. A combined 6 starters from last year’s team returned.

On offense, the Beavers use a run-oriented spread attack averaging 36 points per game. On defense - where the team is at its youngest - the Beavers operate out of a 4-2. Without the 28 points given up to a 4A Bauxite team in non-conference play, the Beavers are only giving up 8 points per game and have three shutouts on the season.

6’4, 195 pound junior quarterback in J.T. Towers has been solid but his backfield has been acceptable. Jay’Shawn Cox and Colby Steed are both short but speedy with both having 4.5 speed.

H.G. still has the advantage in overall team speed and match up well with the Beavers in terms of size. Like Prescott and Smackover, H.G continued to play Glen Rose when H.G. was reclassified to 2A for a couple of seasons. While H.G. hasn’t defeated the Beavers in five games, the margin of victory has only been 7.5 points the last two meetings. The margin of victory averaged 32 points in the Beavers favor in the first three meetings.
