CN announces Week 8 Players of the Week

The Camden News has released its Week 8 Players of the Week.

The “Players of the Week” feature is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

Harmony Grove’s O-Line HG Head Coach Ernie Horstkamp said that the offensive line made up of Logan Hutchins, Dade Turner, Chase Sharp, Abraham Mitchell, and Matthew Ealy played really well in HG’s 50-15 win over Centerpoint. Horstkamp said his team rushed 41 times for 436 yards.

Bearden’s C.J. Quarles led the Bearden Bears defensively last Friday on the road against Junction City.

Camden Fairview’s Qwaishaun Thompson had 4 catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in CF’s 49-28 win over DeQueen. Thompson would’ve finished with more than 300 all-purpose yards but several plays he was a part of - including a 90-yard touchdown return - were called back.

CF’s Tyree Holliman finished the game with nine tackles including a big hit on a third and short, a 17 yard touchdown run to put CF back in the lead in the fourth quarter and two, two point conversions.

Mention

CF’s Linebackers Demetrius “DX” Moore and Leighton Garcia were everywhere on the field against DeQueen. The student athletes combined for nearly 15 tackles and a forced fumble. Garcia was selected to wear the No. 12 to honor fallen teammate Tyler Kelley.

CF’s Erik Hall and Gabe Rucks combines for almost 250 rushing yards and five touchdowns.

HG’s Xaylon Falls scored four touchdowns including a punt return for a touchdown against the Centerpoint Knights.
