The eighth annual Autumn Market will have something to tantalize just about every taste bud. And the sweet heat of one item — tomato jam — was so popular at last year’s event, it will be back by popular demand.

The Ouachita County Extension Homemakers have been busy preparing tomato jam and other food preservation items, crafts and baked goods, which will be available for tasting and purchase at the event, according to Addie Wilson, University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service family consumer sciences agent.

The Autumn Market is sponsored each year by the Extension Homemakers to raise funds for three $500 scholarships for graduating seniors in Ouachita County. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 26 at First Presbyterian Church, 313 Greening St., in downtown Camden. A luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and tickets are $10. The menu will feature chicken spaghetti, green beans, salad, roll and a choice of desserts.

Wilson said that the county’s 55 Extension Homemakers come together to make the event happen.

“We’re really excited about it,” she said. “All the proceeds go to the scholarships and we really appreciate the community for coming out and supporting the kiddos.”

Wilson said Paparazzi jewelry will be available for purchase, as well as a range of decorator items, in addition to canned and baked goods. A silent auction will be held featuring items donated by Extension Homemakers.

The public is invited and encouraged to come early and shop before enjoying the homemade lunch. To purchase tickets and for more information, contact the local Extension office at 870-231-1160.
