The Camden News has released its Week 0 and Week 1 Players of the Week.

The “Players of the Week” feature is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

During Week 0, there was only one varsity high school football regular season game involving a Ouachita County team. Harmony Grove junior RB Xaylon Falls accounted for nearly 200 all purpose yards and returned to Kick-off for touchdowns in Harmony Grove’s 52-50 loss against Junction City.

Falls also played defense for the Hornets throughout the game.

During Week 1, all three Ouachita County High School teams were in action.

Camden Fairview senior Tyree Holliman recorded 10 tackles during CF’s 40-20 loss in El Dorado. Holliman was also inserted on offense in a critical fourth and short situation and made a first down that led to C.F.’s first touchdown of the season.

Bearden’s senior quarterback Cohen Word orchestrated two long touchdown drives for the Bearden Bears in its 22-14 loss against Harmony Grove. Word scored the first touchdown of the season on a 4 yard run and played on defense.

Harmony Grove’s Gannon Bearden led the team in tackles last week in its rivalry game while also being a dual threat quarterback on offense.
