If you don’t think gambling has dug its heels in Arkansas, consider this story Thursday from The Associated Press:

Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs is conducting a soft opening for its expanded electronic gambling parlor.

The new area has a casino-like atmosphere and contains 850 gambling stations. Games include poker, blackjack and craps, along with other “electronic games of skill”

Live thoroughbred racing begins next week (which would be this week), and the track wanted to work out any bugs in the new area before the influx of patrons.
