Wesson man seeks old photos
I’m on a photo and fact-finding mission on behalf of one of the newspaper’s readers and I’m hoping some of you can help.
Elton Garris of Wesson, which was once a bustling sawmill community here in Union County, is looking for a photo of the old Wesson School, which burned on Jan. 22, 1948. He’s also seeking historical information on that community. According to Mr. Garris, the community was built in the early 1900s by Edgar Lumber Co. and reached a peak of around 1,500 people. When the mill closed, people moved to other sawmill towns and Wesson diminished in size. Log-In to view full story or view our Registration Guide.
