ESTELLE BARNETT

Estelle Emerson Barnett, 84, of Magnolia, died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, at Magnolia City Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1926, in Bussey, the daughter of Reuben and Vee (Kirby) Emerson.

Estelle was employed with Amfuel, was a member of the Unity Methodist Church and the Quilting Ladies of Unity Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 52 years, Sam Barnett; one infant sister; a sister, Marzelle Blaser; and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Jena Creech and husband, Louis, of Stamps, Nancy Pate and husband, James, of Waldo, Paula Hughes and husband, Jim, of Magnolia, and Nellie Sue Chaney of Clinton, Miss., and her fiancé, Maurice Beard; a son, John Barnett and wife, Janice, of Haynesville, La.; a brother, Dilton Emerson and wife, Pat, of Bossier City, La.; one sister, Maedean Wallis of Doyline, La.; grandchildren Kayla Phillips and husband, Ben, of Magnolia, Jay Oglesby and wife, Mandy, of Magnolia, Greta Pate of Dallas, Texas, Jessica Barr and husband, Mark, of Waldo, Dawn Hughes Butler and husband, Roby, of Little Rock, Tim Cain and wife, Leslie, of Jackson, Miss., Wendy Reed and husband, Raymond, of Brandon, Miss., Wesley Chaney and wife, Rebecca, of Bolton, Miss., Kenny Barnett and wife, Lori, of Emerson, Becky Smith and husband, Brad, of Illinois, Jennifer Driscoll and husband, Pat, of Destin, Fla., Cathy Gallaway and husband, Cliff, of El Dorado, Jimmy Ryals of Magnolia and Gerald Bunner of El Dorado; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in Lewis Chapel with Bro. Wayne Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Sharman Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Emerson, Herman Phillips, William Smith, Joe Emerson, Jeff Sweet and Robert Hix.
