Alvin Efird
Alvin Enoch Efird, 80, of Chapin, S.C., died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and in special forces. He fought in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He is survived by his daughter, Joan Eva Efird and her husband, John Council, of Garner, N.C.; sons, Richard Alan Efird and his wife, Karla, of Custer, S.D., Jesse Eugene Efird of Chapin and David Neil Efird and his wife, Laura, of Chapin; grandchildren, Richard Alan Efird Jr. and his wife, Leslie, of Ft. Collins, Colo., Britney, Rebecca, Mary, Cory and Matthew Efird, all of Chapin; and great-grandchildren, Scott and Corey Efird of Ft. Collins. Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Bush River Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, P.O. Box 13483, Tampa, FL 33681-3483.
