Robert Wilde
Robert E. "Bob" Wilde, 81 of Wichita Falls, Texas died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010.
The funeral service was today in the chapel of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Bob was born June 1, 1928, in Scotland, Texas, the son of Theodore and Mary Wilde. He and his six brothers and sisters grew up on a farm in Windthorst. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1946 until 1948. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. After his military service, he returned to Wichita Falls, where he lived until he took a job with the El Paso, Texas, Fire Department. He retired in 1980 at the rank of chief. He lived in Ponta, Texas, from 1981 until 1995 and returned to Wichita Falls, where he resided until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mary Wilde; his brothers, Alvin, Hubert and William; and his sister, Helen Dupape. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Argretta Wilde, of Wichita Falls; children, Robbie and Linda Wilde of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Terry and Rick Braziel of San Antonio, Texas, Marie and Leo Trisollini of Camden; Thomas Martin of Portland, Ore., Rita Albridge of Cleveland, Ohio, and Eugene Smith of Los Alamos, Colo.; sisters, Evelyn King, Dorothy Gambrill and Helen Wilde; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
