Carl Cecil Dowling Sr., 91, of Magnolia, died on Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Magnolia Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on April 29, 1918, in Bonnerdale, the son of John Thomas and Della Mattie (Trout) Dowling.

He was a member of the Laughlin United Pentecostal Church and was retired from Shanhouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Winifred “Wren” Louise Dowling; sons Roger Dale, Gerald, Carl Jr., Berry and Thomas Buddy Dowling; a grandson, Daniel Dowling; and four brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Jo Ellen Millican and husband, M.D., of Magnolia; a son, Leroy Dowling and wife, Brenda, of McNeil; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jackie Harton of Natchitoches, La.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday in Lewis Chapel with Pastor Anthony Needham officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home in Magnolia.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Stevie Millican, Tommy, Shone and Chris Dowling, Scott Aden and Norwood Thomas. Memorials may be made to the Laughlin United Pentecostal Church.
