Z. Roy Butler, 70, of El Dorado died on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Courtyard Health & Rehab.

He was born on Oct. 10, 1939, in Union City, Tenn., the son of Zellner Roy Butler and Anna May Upton Butler and then the family moved to Jackson, Tenn. Roy was a U.S. Navy veteran, worked as a dispensing optician at Arkansas Eye Clinic, was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an aunt, Wilma Nolan.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara A. Butler of El Dorado; two sons, Randy Butler and wife, Malinda, of El Dorado, and Brandon Butler of El Dorado; one sister, Carol Yancey of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Matthew and Brittany Butler.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Young’s Funeral Directors in El Dorado.

The family will receive friends at 278 Dusty Road.
