Hugh Neal McClatchey, Jr. went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010. He was surrounded by his family.

A loving husband and wonderful father, Hugh served as a deacon for many years at First Baptist Church in Camden where, through the years, he taught children’s Sunday school and worked in the Awana program. He also served the community as a member of the Lion’s Club.

The loved ones he leaves behind include his wife of 55 years, Mildred McClatchey; a son, David McClatchey and wife, Patty, of Murfreesboro, Tenn; three daughters, Kathy McHendry and husband, Matt, of Louisville, Ky., Pam Smith and husband, Greg, of Gray, Ga., and Sharon Stone and husband, Jerry, of Bryant; and 10 grandchildren, Mallory McHendry, Andrew McHendry and wife, Katy, Courtney McHendry, Brittny Smith, Kari McClatchey, Neal McClatchey, Mariah Smith, Todd Stone, Sara McClatchey and Madison Stone.

Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Camden, followed by a private family burial at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Proctor Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Camden, The American Diabetes Association or the Lion’s Club.
