Dr. Paul Dean Kelly was born on July 30, 1939, in Camden to Pete and Susianner Kelly. He departed this life on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his home after an extended illness.

He was a local business owner for over 30 years. He owned Kelly’s Body Shop in Camden. He was also pastor of the Greater New Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Camden. He served as pastor for 38 years.

He united in marriage to Hazel Lee Downs on Nov. 29, 1959. To this union, seven children were born.

His father, three brothers, a sister and a daughter preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and loving wife, Hazel Kelly; his mother, Susianner Kelly; three boys, Fredrick Lee Kelly, Paul Kelly Jr., Henry Earl Kelly (Rosie Nell); three girls, Charolette Denise Gossett (Dewey), Shelia Ann Ellis (Donald Ray) and Julie Marie Johnson (Melvin), all of Camden; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Samuel Ray Kelly and Henry Lee Kelly of Camden; one sister, evangelist Wordie Kelly Earnes (Kurlee).

Williams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A wake will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Greater New Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 297 South Adams.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 675 Visor Street.
