HELEN M. DECKER

Helen M. Decker, 66, of El Dorado, passed away March 30, 2010, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

Born March 2, 1944, in El Dorado, to Wayne Jewell and Nettie Anna Hunt Jewell, Helen worked as a library assistant in San Lorenzo, Calif. She attended El Dorado High School and attended the Holy Names College on a cello scholarship for two years. She was a musician and loved to play the piano and listen to music. As a young person she played in the South Arkansas Symphony and was a member of the Holy Names Symphony. A member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, she also loved gardening, crafts and was a very talented woman who just enjoyed living life to her full potential.

Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister Rebecca Hill.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry B. Decker of El Dorado; a sister, Sylvia Jewell of El Dorado; a sister-in-law, Dixie Dreher; a brother-in-law, Rod Dreher, both of Elwood, Neb; a sister-in-law, Janean Decker of Houston, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held by the family 2 p.m. on Monday, April 5th, 2010, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in the cloister at St. Mary’s.
