Jeanette Elam, 81, of Waldo, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia.

She was born Feb. 12, 1929, in Buckner, to the late James and Charlene (Hollis) Phillips.

Jeanette was a member of the Antioch West Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Shanhouse. She enjoyed sewing for the public, loved to cook, babysit, and loved listening to the Shine Ons play.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aubrey Elam; a son, Donald Elam; a sister, Jo Ann Martin; and a brother, James Wesley “Buddy” Phillips.

Survivors are her son, Royce Elam and wife Phyllis of McNeil; daughter-in-law, Ann Elam of Waldo; grandson, Richard Reeves and wife Lori of Bossier City, La.; granddaughters, Carol Carter and husband Mike of Stephens, Lisa Stamper and husband David of Magnolia, Donna Covey and husband Jeremy of Benton; great-grandsons, Tyler Stamper of Magnolia, Preston Stiles of Magnolia; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Reeves of Magnolia; sisters, Ora Plumley of Stamps, Sue Bridges of Magnolia, and Nell Campbell of Laneburg; brother, Van Loy “Pete” Phillips of Stamps; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Jim Sayers officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia.
