Wallace Berry

Wallace Jefferson Berry, 86, of Hooks, Texas, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in a Texarkana hospital.

He was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Strong. He was retired from RRAD and Hooks School system. He was also a W.W. II veteran, having received five Bronze Stars. He was a member of First Assembly of God in Hooks and was a deacon at First Assembly of God in Camden when it was located on Center Street.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Clawson Berry and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Haggard Berry, two stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Moe Brown, and Sharon and Allen Crosby, all of Texarkana; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Sherman and Paula Haggard of Sherman, Texas; three sisters; two brothers; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Texarkana Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Services will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lewis Smith officiating. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Liberty Cemetery in Louann.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
