Ruby Allen
Ruby Allen, 84, of Stephens left her earthly home for her heavenly home Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Ouachita County Medical Center. Miss Allen was reared in Stephens and had attended Stephens High School. She had worked for AT&T in Chicago. While living in Illinois, she won many trophies at dog shows with Peaches her Great Dane and taught dog obedience classes with the help of Julie her Standard Black Poodle. She moved back to Stephens after her retirement and was the records keeper for the Adult 5 Ladies at Cullendale First Baptist Church for many years until her health began to fail. She loved the Books of Psalms. While at Silver Oaks she looked forward to Sundays to be able to attend their church service. She will be remembered for her strong faith and love for Jesus Christ, her sweet and caring personality and her love for her animals.
Miss Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Ludie B. Williams Allen; sisters, Pauline Howard and Helen Byrne. Survivors include her sisters, Artha Mae Lehr of Loda, Ill. and Shirley F. Allen of Stephens; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Phillip Salmon and Dr. Jimmy Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Cullendale First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1850 Cash Road, Camden, AR 71701. The family would like to thank the staff at Silver Oaks and Ouachita County Medical Center and Dr. Judson Hout. To sign the online guest register, visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com |
