Just some idle thoughts:

If the director of the census is catching flak because he’s spending so much money, I’ve got a hint for the next one 10 years from now that could save quite a bit.

Instead of sending everybody a letter like this year telling us we’re going to be receiving a census form later, why not just send the form with a note saying “Here ‘tis ...?”

I wonder how much it cost for federal employees to prepare that huge mailing project telling citizens the next huge mailing project would actually be the census forms.
