On what should have been a day of celebration following his big primary win in Florida last week, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney instead found himself in the hot seat over comments he made that included the phrase “I’m not concerned about the very poor.”

As soon as the words escaped his lips, politicians, pundits and the media were all over them, using the phrase to shore up their assertion that Romney is callous and out of touch with a large majority of the people he aspires to lead as president.
