LaVerne Hicks Sr.

LaVerne Hicks Sr., 79, of Norphlet, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.

The son of Felix Hicks and Cleopatra Thornton Hicks, he was born March 18, 1930, in Norphlet. He was a graduate of Smith High School in Norphlet. He served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired pressman for Cooper Rubber & Tire Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and six sisters.
