2010 dog show attracts entries from 37 states
![]() Snip, snip Virginia Huddle of Texarkana, Texas, trims up Sammy, her 11-month-old Bichon Frise, at the 2010 South Arkansas Kennel Club Dog Show and Obedience Trials on Saturday. Sammy has competed in five dog shows and was one of many participants in the “non-sporting breeds” category. Another successful South Arkansas Kennel Club Dog Show and Obedience Trials has wrapped up and kennel club co-founder and show organizer Darleen Wheelington said the results left her “very pleased.” Though the number of entries was down from last year’s count of more than 800 dogs, Wheelington said she was extremely happy that there were more than 500 dogs this year. The show was dedicated to the memory of Dorothy Nickles, a well-known, longtime dog show judge who judged the SAKC Dog Show for many years, and was a mentor of Wheelington’s.
