EL DORADO - Former Smackover Schools Superintendent Darrell Porter pleaded no contest to driving while intoxicated, first offense, Thursday in Union County Circuit Court.

A plea of “no contest” indicates the person charged with the crime does not refute the charges, but also does not claim guilt for the charges.

Porter was scheduled to stand trial for the 2008 arrest, but agreed to take the plea, in which the two counts of endangering a minor and driving left of center were nolle prossed.
