After two days of candidates filing to run in the primary election in May, 15 people have placed their bids for seats throughout Ouachita County, according to information from Britt Williford, county clerk.

So far, there are two candidates who have filed for the position of county sheriff and collector: Incumbent David Norwood, and candidate Paul Kelly.

Norwood was elected as sheriff in 2008 after sheriff Paul Lucas resigned the position, leaving then Capt. Jason Dickinson to fill the position as interim sheriff.
