After four days of candidates filing for positions in primary election in May, several races have developed and the county has seen filings from an independent and two Republican candidates.

One race shaping up in the county is for the office of sheriff. Incumbent sheriff David Norwood will face candidate Paul Kelly for the seat.

The current county coroner will also face an opponent. Incumbent coroner Sylvester Lee Smith Jr. will run against Brandy C. Kendrick in the May primary.
