The first-ever Columbia County Spring Festival kicks off Thursday and includes a dance contest, an antique tractor show, rides and games, and a petting zoo, said Jim Givens, president of the county fair board.

Miller’s Spectacular Show will be on site with 15 carnival rides, 15 games and three food wagons, and the fair board will also have a “peanut wagon” and a large food booth at the south end of the fairgrounds, Givens said.

A dance contest, which is traditionally the most popular event at the county fair, is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, he added.
