SARATOGA — It took just a little while for the Stephens senior boys to find their stride on Wednesday, but once they had a head of steam built up, they zoomed away from their opponent in quick fashion.

Stephens downed the Foreman Gators 81-50 in the first round of the 2A South Region tournament on Wednesday. The win not only advances the 30-3 Roadrunners, listed at No. 5 in the latest Democrat-Gazette Class 2A rankings, to Friday’s regional semifinal game, but also qualifies them for the 2A state tournament in Carlisle next week.
