Hogs top Gents, Cox hit streak ends

FAYETTEVILLE — Seven Arkansas players had hits in the 10th-ranked Razorbacks’ 9-4 victory over Centenary on Wednesday at Baum Stadium.

But Zack Cox wasn’t one of them.

Cox went 0 for 4 and had his season-long hitting streak end at 24 games, six shy of Randy Bobb’s school record 30-game streak in 1987.

“You always want to see a guy keep a streak going, especially a guy as good as Zack, but it’s baseball,” Arkansas center fielder Brett Eibner said. “You can’t ever beat the game.
