An area just west of Camden was evacuated after a tanker crash on Thursday night.

According to KATV, Arkansas Department of Transportation spokesman Jeff Whatley stated that the crash happened around 10 p.m. Thursday on Arkansas 278.

A quarter-mile area surrounding the crash was evacuated as a precaution.

Whatley said the cause of the crash wasn’t immediately known and that it was unclear whether there were any injuries.

Traffic on Arkansas 278 was being diverted onto Arkansas 376.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation tweeted that the tanker was “overturned.”

The Camden News contacted the Arkansas State Police for more information, but no one was available before press time today.

If more information is provided later today, it will be posted on the Camden News’ Facebook page.
