— Two separate motions of discovery in different cases were filed in Ouachita County District Court this week, one is in relation to a rape case and the other is related to drug charges.

Christopher Bearden, of Chidester, is charged with rape according to court documents.

A police affidavit states that 0n June 16 Ouachita County Sheriff’s Department along with Ouachita County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a residence in reference to a subject advising she had been raped.

Upon arrival deputies made contact with the subject who advised them that she and a friend that lived in her home, Bearden, had been to a bar and had been drinking.

When they returned home, she went to the restroom. She told officers that Bearden entered and tried to strip her clothes off. She pushed him off and gathered a nightgown and went to bed.

The subject then said when she woke up Bearden was on top of her with his penis in her. The subject said she told Bearden multiple times to stop and he would not. Afterwards, she said that Bearden tried to convince her that she had initiated the sex and that it was consensual. Bearden then requested she shoot him or he would kill himself. Bearden then fled the residence.

She stated she had known Bearden for 15 years and they had previously dated, but the relationship had ended as of two months ago. She was allowing Bearden to stay at the house while he found a place to live.

The subject was taken to Ouachita County Medical Center were a sexual assault kit was completed.

The woman later provided investigators with Facebook messages from Bearden that stated,

“I seen your last post. I blacked out from mixing so much alcohol. I hate that it happened. I hate that it happened to you even more after I promised you I just wanted to say that it’s been bothering me. I’m sorry. I’m never drinking again.”

On June 24, Bearden was interviewed by the Ouachita County Sheriff’s Department. Bearden was read his Miranda rights.

He stated that on the night in question he and the subject went to a bar and later had consensual sex. After he was read the text message, Bearden changed his story and said he didn’t remember driving home and when he came to the subject was on the phone with someone saying she had been raped and was telling Bearden to get away from her.
