— The Camden Airport Commission held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting Friday and approved payment for a survey project as well as discussed the way minutes of the meetings would be taken.

Minutes from a specially-called meeting earlier in the month show that Kyle Gatling made a motion to make Dale O Clark the new Fixed Base Operator (FBO) for the Harrell Field Active immediately, that it was seconded by Bill Archer, and unanimously approved.

During the July meeting, Camden City Attorney Michael Frey also noted that while Clark rented the terminal and was in the process of becoming the FBO for the airport, an FBO agreement had not been signed at the time. With the special meeting, this situation is now rectified.

Previously, the commission had advertise for an FBO seeking for a company that would:

• Provide aircraft sales, leasing and charter services

• Provide aircraft rentals and flight instruction

• Provide courtesy car/rental vehicles

• Full-service aircraft refueling

• Hangar administration

• Mowing services

• Normal building maintenance service

• Runway/taxiway lighting, beacon maintenance

• Seven-day-per-week service

• After-hours call-out service

• Liaison with FAA for grant submission and administration

In other business, commissioner Tim Jordan entered a motion to pay Josh Nix for survey work done on airport-owned land. The motion passed unanimously

James Lee Silliman, Executive of Director of the Ouachita Partnership for Economic Development , was present at the meeting and indicated that OPED could pay half of the surveying fee and was authorized to go up to $5,000.

Camden Mayor Julian Lott informed the commission that the Camden City Council requested minutes from the Airport Commission going forward and the minutes would be included in the councilmen’s information packets received monthly.

Mayor’s Assistant Amy Perrin currently compiles minutes for the airport commission, but Lott indicated that this took up a considerable amount of her time and a member of the Airport Commission would need to take up the duties eventually.
