— Dorothay Gay

Dorthay Mae Twilla Gay, 90, of Camden and formerly of Magnolia, died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at Ouachita Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Camden.

She was born on April 13, 1928, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a retired health care administrator at Magnolia Manor in Magnolia, Arkansas. She and her husband, James, were missionaries in Africa, and ministers for many years. They were also foster parents for several children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Elemuel Twilla and Annie Pearl Vowell Twilla; husband of 59 years, James Louis Gay Sr.; two brothers, Lonnie and William Twilla; and six sisters, Zella Adams, Zula McManey, Katherine Riley, Athryn Lamont, Trudell Martin, and Patricia Joyce.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Louis and Rose Gay Jr. of Houston, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Stephen McWhorter of Camden; one sister, Fay Gorgone of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce/Bearden is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from noon until 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden with Bro. Lee Denton, Bro. Wayne Payne, Bro. Dwayne Scribner, and Bro. Stephen McWhorter officiating.
