Steven Olen Betts, 61, of Camden, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1957, in Camden. He was the son of Emogene Cook Eason and William R. Eason, and Samuel Olen Betts and Juanita Betts.

Steve had been a truck driver most of his life until his health took him off the road. He made friends everywhere he went with his outgoing personality. He never met a stranger, just another friend. His friends know him as “Arkansas Kid,” and some know him as “Uh-Oh.” He worked for Biggers Trucking, Lucas & Sons and C & K Trucking to name a few.

Steve loved his family and his friends. His grandchildren were very special to him. He loved the times he and his family all got together as a family during holidays and camping. He was a member of Sulpher Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Olen Betts and Juanita Betts, and Emogene Cook Eason and William R. Eason; and his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki Betts of Camden; four sons, Billy Betts and wife, Amy, of Keller, Texas, Chris Betts and wife, Donnie, Brad Betts, and Scott Betts and wife, Chelsea; one daughter, Bethany Betts - all of Camden; eight grandchildren, Beth, Kylie, Tori, Lexi, Michael, Tyler, Landon and Aleah; two brothers, Greg Betts and wife, Sherri, of Louann, and Eddy Betts and wife, Tracey, of Camden; and two aunts, Carolyn Sanders and husband, Bill, of Conway, and Linda Thomas and husband, Butch, of Magnolia.

Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with burial at Sulpher Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery at Louann. The Rev. Kathryn Burchfield will officiate the services.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
