The Camden Police Department is hoping to further help a former employee who has been diagnosed with appendix cancer with an online dessert-auction fundraiser on Jan. 24.

The police department had previously raised $828 as part of an auction at its annual Christmas party.

Public Relations Officer Dana Wetherbee stated in a press release: “Officer Anthony Grummer started his policing career with Camden police Department. He has moved over to East Camden and has been policing there.

“In October of 2018, Anthony suddenly had to have his gallbladder removed. A few weeks later his appendix ruptured and he had to have it removed, as well. Doctors did a biopsy of the appendix and found a carcinoid tumor, a type of cancer.

“In December of 2018, Anthony had an octreotide scan. Results came back and he currently has a tumor located in his abdomen. When we heard about Officer Grummer’s medical problems we wanted to jump in and help him. CPD raised $828 00 at our Christmas party by having an auction...to help with his medical expenses. CPD will also have a dessert auction fundraiser for Officer Grummer on January 24. The auction will be on Facebook from 10 a.m. -2 p.m.

“All proceeds will go to Officer Grummer for future medical expenses.”
